A while back I published about one of the things I’m most proud of in my city – street art. In the past few years, ugly and white walls have been filled with amazing arr by fantastic artists from around the world. The kind of stuff that will literally make you stop on your walk to work or school to admire, even if you’re in a terrible rush.
This weekend I went on another walk in the city and took the chance to take more photos of the street art I encountered… oh, and it’s good. At least, I think it is 🙂 hope you enjoy it!
This one was made on the back of the Theatre. I really like this one. The contrast between Ancient Greece and the contemporary graffiti on the background. What about this one, isn’t it adorable, and yet so dad? The weird kid at school with his little pet mouse. Being bullied at school. By Betz ETAM. The artist used multiple materials to build the nest of the stork. This is by BORDALO II . Check out his Instagram, I really like his work.
Perhaps because I am definitely a cat lover, I find this one particularly touching. I am not sure if intentionally, but I love how the kid’s eyes are the same colour as the eyes of the cat. This is by Ricardo Romero, a local artist who was also the master behind the sculpture of the Black Cat I mention in this post. The portrait of the fireman was painted at the back of a building part of the Municipal Firemen of Leiria. It is incredibly realistic portrait, a great homage to the fireman that every year put their lives at risk fighting the fires that keep destroying our forest every summer. By artist Robot
These are all in what is called Pátio do Jordão, recently painted by five different local artists (just last month!) It took me some time to find them, as these are located in a dead end street, home to a local theatre company. It definitely makes the space look so full of joy, even in a grey day like this one was.
Hope you enjoyed these pieces of Art I brought to this post today. Enjoy the rest of your weekends!
These are so beautiful! In the last couple of years I have come to appreciate street art and that’s why I am so happy to see that other people are becoming more open-minded to urban and street art and appreciating where this art form has come from. Thanks for sharing and have a good day. Aiva 🙂 xxx
Street art has definitely helped changing mindsets, and I think it is great that the cities are offering artists the space to create beautiful art pieces such as these 🙂 thanks for passing by, and have a rest of a good day!
Beautiful … some are so realistic (like the fireman painting). And you’re right, it is good – really good! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻.
