Funny enough, lately I really feel the busier I am with work, the more time I’m making to write in this little corner of the Internet. You would assume I would be exhausted at the end of the day, but I guess I’m just desperate to find another reality… and here, I’m really my own boss, and how cool is that?!
Moving on to my post…
In my previous post, I wrote how Brussels has so many faces. At least that was my view on it. You’d think the city is really serious and quite boring… but if you give yourself the chance to get lost in its streets, you may find really cool street art. I didn’t look out for these… they simply appeared in my way, so it’s really a tiny collection. Still, I thought I would share it with you!
Look at all that spark coming out of the touch of their hands. Oh and can you see Bruce Springsteen over there? That’s part of the store front down below.
John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix at the bottom. Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison on top. How cool is this?
Tin Tin! I was never a big fan of comics while growing up, but remember The Adventures of Tintin, by the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi being a big hit also in Portugal.
This one is a sad, don’t you think? It makes you believe there is a magical portal taking you to a magical forest in the centre of grey Brussels. Still beautiful.
After some research, I found out this mural was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Belgian Hip Hop. Manneken Pis, the famous Brussels landmark that is really a small statue of 61 cm of a naked kid pissing to a fountain, his portrayed wearing hip hop clothing. I like the wordplay – changing the word Pis to “Peace”
Hope you enjoyed this tiny collection of street art from Brussels. I do enjoy street art, and you can also check out my post with very cool art from my hometown (really proud of it).
I was crazy about The Adventures of Tin-Tin … even before I could read, I would sit in the library and page through these books and make my own stories from the pictures.
Thanks, your post brought back memories of many years ago 😜
