It is a very interesting and yet, a quite obvious metaphor, to name a waterfall. I had never thought that a waterfall could resemble the veil of a bride, but someone did, particularly for this one.
The above photograph shows the waterfall from the official viewing point, but from Seixal beach, you also have a great view of it.
To me, it looks more as if the mountain was crying to the ocean. In an effort to try to release its sorrows to the wide open ocean, from whose deeps the mountain once emerged, many many years ago. As if, in a way, it would like to return there. But, seeing it as an impossibility, it pours it’s frustration to the sea, taking at least a but of it to its place.
